(English summary nonavailable) Le Professeur Kunishige vient de s’éteindre à l’âge de quatre vingt un ans. Il s’agit pour tous ses amis français et plus spécialement bordelais d’une perte irréparable. «Nobu» comme nous l’appelions affectueusement fut un ami fidèle depuis plus de 45 ans.
En effet, il arrive à Bordeaux en 1958 pour suivre l’enseignement de notre service universitaire d’O.R.L. dirigé à l’époque par Georges Portmann. Il était titulaire d’une bourse d’étude du Gouvernement Français. Etant de même génération, avec mon épouse Claudine nous sympathisons rapidement et devenons des amis pour toujours ! Le décalage entre nos deux cultures était à l’époque considérable. Un jour, étant dans une auberge de campagne, nous tombons sur une noce pleine d’ambiance avec banquet et danse. Nobu me dit alors, «comme vous avez ici de la chance, car même les campagnards dansent sur des musiques de jazz international qui est votre culture propre. Chez nous au Japon nous sommes en permanence écartelés entre deux cultures, la notre traditionnelle et celle qui nous vient de chez vous les occidentaux et qui est artificiellement plaquée sur nos comportements de tous les jours. Ainsi à l’hôpital nous sommes occidentaux, par contre, dès que nous rentrons à la maison nous sommes japonais, enlevant nos chaussures nous asseyant, mangeant puis dormant sur le tatami !»
Notre ami était très francophile, il aimait à la fois nos comportements sérieux strictes et travailleurs (surtout dans le service «Portmann») et par ailleurs notre art de vivre plein d’humanisme et même d’un certain hédonisme. Me trouvant quelques années après à Tokyo il nous reçu, ma femme et moi, dans son petit appartement de cette époque, honneur exceptionnel au Japon car les épouses n’apparaissait pas en général et l’on n’était jamais reçu à la maison. Madame Kunishige parlait très bien notre langue. Elle avait préparé un repas comme à Bordeaux : grands crus décantés, fromages d’exportation etc. Elle me dit «enfin, qu’avez-vous fait à mon mari ? Il exige de vivre comme en France non seulement pour la table mais pour bien d’autres choses encore. Leur fille pratiquant le piano il désirait même, chez lui un piano à queue ce qui était impossible vue l’exiguïté de leur appartement !» J'aurais ainsi plein d’autres anecdotes me liant de façon indéfectible à ce cher Nobu que nous pleurons tous aujourd’hui.
Le Professeur Kunishige a eu une carrière brillante.
En 1964 il revient parmi nous grâce à une bourse technique dans le cadre de la coopération technique franco-japonaise. Il est professeur invité O.R.L. à l’université de Bordeaux en 1978, il y revient en 1980 lors du centenaire de notre école et de la Revue de Laryngologie. Cette même année, il assume la présidence de la «Société des Anciens Boursiers Techniques du Gouvernement Français».
Parallèlement au Japon, il suit un cursus de grande qualité :
1964 : chargé de cours à «Nihon Ika Daigaku»,
1967 : chargé de cours à la Faculté de médecine de l’Université de Keio Gijuku,
1988 : Président de la Société Franco-Japonaise de Médecine,
1972 à 1994 chef de la Clinique O.R.L. de l’hôpital Kosei,
1971 à 2005, création de la Clinique O.R.L. «Kunishige». En Mai 1975 la France lui décerna les insignes de «Chevalier» de la Légion d’Honneur en reconnaissance pour le travail considérable qu’il réalisa tout au long de sa vie pour le rapprochement culturel de nos deux pays.
Au nom de notre Ecole, de la Revue de Laryngologie, enfin en mon nom personnel, j’adresse à la famille et aux amis japonais de notre cher NOBU l’expression de notre immense tristesse.
