Summary : Objectives: Helping to promote and organize Phoniatry. Methods: We are trying to name and define the perimeter of a branche of Phoniatry, consisting of operating procedures, and to evaluate its issues, constraints, difficulties. Results: Interventional Phoniatry is at the crossroads of Phoniatry, which needs a functionnal and global approach, and the operative techniques, who requires a local, mecanichal and interventionnal view. The decision process is therefore complicated. There are numerous issues: pedagogical, higher visibility, improving of efficiency, possibly financial with the social insurance. The constraints mainly arise from the interaction between the two specialities and their ways of thinking. Discussion: The reflection and the analysis about Interventional Phoniatry could be useful to definite specific teaching and training, this item being on the agenda of the SFP. The recognition of this part of the phoniatry could improve the visibility of our phoniatric speciality. A French Society of Otolaryngologists Report could be dedicated, to this purpose.
