The Editorial Committee is pleased to deliver to you this issue of the Revue de Laryngologie which enters its 129th year of publication. The contents cover the different aspects of the ENT specialty.
The Editorial Committee wishes to take the opportunity to thank not only the authors for their confidence, but also the members of the International Reading Committee, whose difficult work is absolutely essential to insure the quality of the articles published.
Among these, three relate to the surgery of the semicircular canals in vertigo- a technique explored in the past and used for other indications today, as it is often the case in medicine. The action of the surgeon appears quite coarse compared to the complexity of the sensorial organ. In spite of that, the benefit of this medical practice is certain for the patient: it allows a more functional approach of a surgical treatment which is still too often destructive.
The next issue will be devoted to the problems of swallowing, through the critical reviews of the meeting organized by Doctor Virginie Woisard on this particular subject in June 2007.
We wish you a pleasant and beneficial reading.
Didier PORTMANN
